Our client is looking for a candidate to develop processes for cGMP and non-GMP manufacture at laboratory or plant scales, ensuring project targets are met and company standards are maintained.
Responsibilities include:
- Documentation of experiments and results
- Liaison with other departments and site teams (safety groups HEL & SHE, Transfer group, Plant, Quality departments, Project management, Analytical departments)
- Trouble shooting (failure investigations, fast development of re-work methods)
- Written and verbal customer communication
- Manufacturing of products on laboratory scale ensuring GMP compliance
- Performs small and large scale (20 L) experiments efficiently and safely
- Safety/Housekeeping/Maintenance: ensures high standard of safety, tidiness and equipment maintenance in development areas
- Communicates to colleagues and management as required
- Takes part in process improvement projects (to reduce cost, increase efficiency and improve quality)
- Actively contributes to activities sustaining and increasing the expertise of the Development group as required

- BSc plus extensive industrial experience or PhD with industrial experience
- Experience in process development and plant scale manufacture
- Some experience with cGMP compliance and pharmaceutical manufacturing quality systems

Skills/Knowledge:
- Safe handling of chemicals and chemical reactions
- High level of competence and experience in organic chemistry both theoretical and practical, including analytical techniques
- Techniques of chemical process development, understanding of requirements of successful process scale-up: How to design chemistry to deliver a robust, efficient and cGMP compliant process
- Knowledge of plant capabilities and deficiencies
- Organisational/time management skills – should be proactive and self-motivated
- Communication skills. Good written and oral standard of presentation
- Computer literate (standard Microsoft Office applications, accessing literature data, chemical drawing packages). |
